NZXT Flex Gaming PC Disclosure
NZXT Flex systems are rental PCs and must be returned complete and unaltered if the rental ends. Individuals who sell, pawn, strip for parts, or intentionally withhold the rental PC may be pursued through civil litigation or referred to law enforcement.
Congratulations on receiving your NZXT Flex Subscription! Now that you have the system in hand, it's time to get the PC set up and ready to go.
To setup the PC, you'll need the following:
- Box cutter or safety knife
- Philips head screwdriver
- A flat surface (i.e. a table or desk) to unbox and setup the PC
Additionally, we recommend using a surge protector rated for Home Theater or PC use (2000J of protection or higher) or an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) rated for 1350 VA or higher with Automatic Voltage Regulation as a feature. This will be covered later in the guide.

Unpacking the Gaming PC
Before opening the package, make sure that the box is right-side up using the handle cutouts located on the side. Using your box cutter or safety knife, cut the tape along the top of the box away from yourself and others, taking care to not cut the cardboard itself.
Once the tape is cut, rotate the box slowly as to not spill its contents and then lift the box to reveal the PC, Accessory Box, and Quick Start guide.
Remove the outer packaging foam caps, as well as the protective bag (if applicable) from your PC and set them aside in the shipping box.
Inside of the Accessory Box you will find the AC Power Cable and WiFi Antenna(s) necessary for connecting your PC.
Does the Gaming PC come with an HDMI or DisplayPort cable?
Your Flex Gaming PC will not include an HDMI or DisplayPort cable, as these are generally included with your monitor (purchased separately).
Removing the Inner Packaging
To remove the inner packaging, start by removing the large side glass panel from your PC case. On some cases, you may need to loosen a locking screw holding the panel in place. Once the glass panel has been removed, you can remove the following from inside of the case:
- Foam Graphics Card Brace(s)
- Cardboard Wraps
- Expanding Foam Packets
Before re-attaching the glass panel, be sure to check the inside of the case for a protective plastic peel on the glass itself. This can be removed if present. Once the inner materials have been removed, re-attach the panel to the case by securing it into the lower case slot and then pressing the ball joints along the top of the case into their sockets.
All removed packing materials should be placed inside of the shipping box.
Setting up the Gaming PC
Place the PC on your desk or setup area of choice, making sure that there is at least 6 inches (~16cm) between the PC and any nearby surfaces to ensure ample access to fresh air for cooling. Do not place the PC inside of a sealed cabinet or enclosure, as this can restrict airflow and damage the PC.
Can I place the PC on the floor?
While it is generally not recommended to play a gaming PC on the floor, there may be times where desk space may be limited. When placing a PC on the floor, be sure that it is placed on a flat surface and not placed on carpet. Carpet can restrict airflow to the PC, resulting in reduced performance or damage to the PC and its components. It is recommended to use a PC riser, wood panel, or other slab material.
Connect your monitor's DisplayPort or HDMI cable directly to the Graphics Card on the PC. The Graphics Card ports are normally located below the 3.5 mm audio jacks as shown in the image above. Do not connect your monitor directly to the motherboard's I/O plate, as this can result in reduced performance or no display signal.
Should I use HDMI or DisplayPort?
It is generally recommended to use DisplayPort for your monitor connection(s) whenever available. If your monitor or display does not support DisplayPort natively, you can use an adapter to convert the DisplayPort connection to HDMI.
Note: Some streaming applications such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. may not work properly through an HDMI converter. For these applications, an active converter may be necessary.
If the PC included WiFi Antenna(s), secure them to the motherboard's I/O plate as shown above. While most systems will include two gold screw points, some motherboards will instead use a single two-prong plug that can be easily inserted into the rear of the PC.
I am using an Ethernet connection, do I need the antenna(s)?
Even if you are using a hardline (ethernet) connection, we still highly recommend installing the included WiFi antennas. This is because the antennas not only improve the signal strength for wireless internet, but also allow for proper connection of Bluetooth wireless devices. If the antenna(s) are not connected, you may experience severe connectivity issues with wireless controllers and devices.
Connect your Mouse and Keyboard to the USB ports on the motherboard I/O plate. We generally recommend using any available USB 2.0 headers (colored black or white) before using any high-speed ports for these peripherals. From here, attach any additional USB-based devices, speakers, and your Ethernet cable (if applicable).
Lastly, connect the AC Power Cable to the Power Supply as shown, then plug the other end into your Surge Protector or UPS.
Why should I use a Surge Protector or UPS?
Gaming PCs are sensitive to sudden surges or dips in power (aka brown-outs). In particular, a sudden surge in power at the connector can damage the PC and its components, resulting in costly repairs or fees that are not covered under warranty. It is highly recommended to use one of the following:
- A Surge Protector rated for Home Theater or PC use (2000J of protection or greater).
- An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) capability rated for 1350 VA or higher.
In particular, a UPS (also referred to as a Battery Backup) with AVR functionality not only provides surge protection but can also smooth the flow of power to the PC and reduce the chance of a sudden power dip or total power loss (aka blackouts).
Set the Power Switch to the on (I) position as shown.
To start the PC, press the power button located at either the top or front of the PC. During the first start up (cold boot), your PC may take a few minutes to get ready before you are brought to the Account Setup page.
