My WiFi Isn't Working

Many factors can affect the functionality of your WiFi on your PC; this article aims to address some common issues we've seen customers report and their potential solutions.

Note: We will only be able to troubleshoot issues with your PC and not with your wireless router. If it is determined that your router could be at fault, please contact your Internet Service Provider(ISP) for assistance with your router.

Updating your Drivers

It's entirely possible that your wireless adapter doesn't have a driver installed! Typically Windows OS will automatically install your appropriate drivers, but sometimes even Windows can make mistakes! Therefore, before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps below, we recommend updating your drivers by following the guide here.

My Connection is Very Slow

Many things can cause a slow internet connection; here are some potential solutions that might help:

  • Verify your Wireless Antennas are installed, some customers may think they are pre-installed, but they would likely break in shipping. Please check out this article here for assistance with setting up your PC fully.
  • Your router may be conflicting with other devices on your network. For example, this can happen if your router shares a particular frequency in a location with many different wireless routers like an apartment complex. Please contact your ISP for assistance with this issue.
  • Your network may be temporarily impacted due to high usage. This can mean a few things.
    • Your internet speed is insufficient for the number of users on your network. We recommend looking at this guide on internet speeds to help decide what you may need in terms of network speeds.
    • You are playing your PC during peak usage hours in a high-impact area. In most cases, this is from 5 PM to 9 PM on the weekdays as these are typical times that users get off of work or school. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this, as your Internet Service Provider(ISP) has to reasonably share network speeds with users in your area.
    • Your wireless router may be unable to support more bandwidth for all of the devices currently on your network. As a result, you may need to upgrade your router to support higher bandwidth even if you have a faster internet speed that doesn't matter much when your router can't give that data to devices.
  • Your network may be dropping packets; this is usually related to your ISP. An excellent way to check if your ISP is dropping packets is to run a Packet Loss Test.
    • When running a packet loss test, we recommend that you set the duration of these tests to 60 seconds and run three to four tests.
    • Keep in mind that packets being dropped from time to time is expected. However, if packets are being lost in high quantities during a test, it is best to contact your ISP for support.

My Computer is Disconnecting from my WiFi

For internet connection issues like these, this problem is usually related to the built-in wireless card or your wireless router. However, here are some things to keep in mind if your PC is disconnecting from your network.

  • Make sure your Wireless Antennas are correctly installed. It is best to ensure your antennas are secured tightly to their connections.
  • Your router may be conflicting with other devices on your network. For example, this can happen if your router shares a particular frequency in a location with many other wireless routers like an apartment complex. Please contact your ISP for assistance with this issue.
  • Sometimes your wireless drivers could be corrupted; it is recommended to reinstall them; please take a look at this guide for assistance with this troubleshooting step.

My computer has no wireless icon

If your PC has no wireless icon, that could mean that your system cannot see your wireless card. A few things can cause this. Here are some potential solutions that might help:

  • You might not have a wireless card; sometimes, customers mistakenly order devices without wireless support. The best way to verify this is to search up the model of your motherboard on google to verify its features on the manufacturer's website. In addition, you can find your motherboard model in our CAM software under the "Specifications" tab.
  • Sometimes your wireless drivers could be corrupted; it is recommended to reinstall them; please take a look at this guide for assistance with this troubleshooting step.
  • Your wireless card is defective; there is no easy way to confirm this. We recommend contacting our support team to verify this issue.
