With the addition of our Function Keyboard to our lineup of NZXT products comes the addition of many new features! This article will show you how to set up our macro feature via our CAM software for use with your Function Keyboard.
What is a macro?
A macro is a programmable set of inputs that you can create in software that allows you to perform multiple actions with the click of a button. In gaming, the benefit to a macro is that you can create a set of actions that could allow you to perform a particular task that you might find tedious. This is very beneficial for upping your game for sure!
Setting a Macro in our CAM Software
To add a macro to your Function Keyboard, you will need to go to the "Keyboard" tab and press the "Add Macro" button. Then you will give your macro a name; we suggest naming the macro something that indicates what it does.
Now you will need to set the keys for the macro. You can do this one of two ways; you can do the first by manually selecting the keys. You can do this by pressing the "Add Function" button.
With manual inputs, you can adjust the type of input and the timing of each input in milliseconds (ms.) There are three types of inputs:
- Keypress: The single press of the key
- Keydown: This is essentially holding down the key
- Keyup: This is releasing of the key that is held down
Pro tip: When using the Keydown input, do not forget to follow it with a Keyup input or your key will remain held!
The second way to set a macro is by making the inputs on your keyboard via the "Start New Recording" button. Once you press this button, CAM will record all inputs made on your keyboard; when you've created your macro, finish by pressing the "Stop Recording" button. Again, like with the manual input, you can adjust the types of inputs and timing of inputs to optimize your macro.
Now that we have a macro made, we need to set a key to activate it. You can do this by clicking on "Activation Key" and pressing the key with which you want to start the macro. We recommend checking the "Use FN for Activation key" as it is not recommended to set a macro to a key you could accidentally press.
That's it! You can effectively create a macro for use in games or productivity tasks! If you need any additional assistance, please reach out to our customer service team for help.
