| Asus Motherboard Specific Guide |
This guide is written specifically for NZXT Gaming PCs using Asus branded motherboards. You can confirm your motherboard model in the motherboard UEFI BIOS, in the System Information app, or by checking System Specs in the NZXT CAM software. Screenshots were captured on the Z890 GAMING MAX Wifi7 motherboard. Instructions may vary from product to product. |
AMD EXPO™ and Intel® XMP are a feature found on many modern PCs to allow easy access to higher RAM performance with only a few clicks. This is done by including pre-configured profiles on the RAM modules that can be read and set up by the motherboard.
Why enable AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP?
Enabling AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP allows your RAM to run at a higher validated speed, pre-configuring voltage and timings to improve your overall system performance. While this may not translate to an overall higher FPS in gaming, it can see your average FPS improve by raising your minimum FPS (also known as 1% lows). Enabling this feature can also help improve load times and performance for CPU bound games and applications, allowing for quicker access to data loaded into memory.
Does enabling AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP affect my warranty?
Enabling these features does not affect your system warranty, however we are not able to guarantee stability while these features are active. This is because overclocking your memory will increase stress on the CPU's memory controller as well as the RAM itself. Additionally, enabling XMP on systems with more than two (2) memory modules can cause greater instability issues.
Enabling AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP
To enable AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP, first reboot your PC into the UEFI/BIOS. This can be done by pressing F2 or Delete at the startup splash screen as shown above.
By default, most Gaming PCs will boot to EZ Mode for the BIOS as shown above. To enable AMD EXPO™ or Intel® XMP, select the dropdown on the left side and change it to Enabled or select one of the profiles provided. Some RAM kits may include multiple profiles, however it's recommended to select the profile that matches your platform if available.
Once the profile has been enabled, the specs of the RAM will appear to the right side of the dropdown box. From here, click the Save & Exit option at the bottom of the screen and save your settings to restart the PC.
