Congratulations on your purchase of a new NZXT Gaming PC! Now that you have your new system in hand, it's time to get your PC set up.
To setup your PC, you'll need the following:
- Box cutter or safety knife
- Philips head screwdriver
- A flat surface (i.e. a table or desk) to unbox and setup your PC
Additionally, we would recommend either a surge protector rated for Home Theater or PC use (2000J or higher) or an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) rated for 1350VA or higher with Automatic Voltage Regulation. This will be covered later in the guide.
Unpacking your Gaming PC
Before opening your package, make sure that the box is right-side up using the handle cutouts located on the side. Using your box cutter or safety knife, cut the tape along the top of the box taking care not to cut the cardboard.
With the tape cut, rotate the box slowly as to not spill the contents, then lift the box to reveal your Gaming PC, Accessory Box, and Quick Start guide.
About the box and Packing Materials.
When unboxing your PC, please make sure to save your shipping box and any packing materials your PC has shipped with. You will need these in the event that your Gaming PC needs to be sent in for repair while under warranty. If your packing materials are lost or damaged, you will need to purchase a new packing material kit through our Customer Support team.
All NZXT Gaming PCs carry a 2-year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty.
Inside the Accessory Box you'll find both the necessary parts for setting up your PC, as well as additional parts for upgrading your PC in the future.
Remove the outer packing foam caps, as well as the protective bag (if applicable) from your PC and set it aside in the shipping box for later.
Removing the Inner Packaging
To remove the inner packaging, start by removing the large side glass panel for your case. On some cases, you may need to loosen a locking screw holding the panel in place. With the glass panel off, remove any foam blocks, expanding foam packets, and cardboard from within the case.
Checkpoint - H9 Elite Extra Foam
If you have an H9 Elite case, you may have an additional foam block located under the top glass panel. To remove this, pull the panel up using the cutout at the rear of your PC. Once the foam is removed, firmly press the panel on top of your PC to secure it again.
Once the inner packaging has been removed, check the inner side of the glass panel(s) for any plastic peels and remove them before you re-secure the glass panel to the case.
Setting up your Gaming PC
Place your Gaming PC on your desk or setup area of choice, making sure that there is at least 6 inches (~16cm) between your PC and any nearby surfaces. This is to ensure that there is ample room for fresh air to enter your PC. Do not place your PC inside of a sealed cabinet or enclosure, as this can restrict airflow and damage your system.
Placing your PC on the Floor
While it is generally not recommended to place your Gaming PC on the floor as NZXT Gaming PCs also make great functional display pieces, there may be times where desk space may be limited. When placing a PC on the floor, be sure that it is placed on a flat surface and not placed on carpet as this can restrict airflow and damage your PC. This can be done using a PC riser, a wood panel, or other slab material.
Connect your monitor's DisplayPort or HDMI cable directly to the Graphics Card on your PC. The Graphics Card ports are normally located below the 3.5mm audio jacks. Do not connect your monitor directly to the motherboard's I/O plate, as this can result in reduced performance or no display.
If your PC includes Wifi antennas, secure them to the screw points located either on the motherboard I/O or on the Wifi expansion card near the Graphics Card ports. These antennas are used for both Wifi and Bluetooth and must be connected, not connecting these antennas can result in degraded or non-functional Wifi or Bluetooth.
Connect your Mouse and Keyboard to the USB ports on the motherboard I/O plate, as well as any other USB devices you are using such as your Microphone, Webcam, etc. If you are planning to use a wired Ethernet connection, connect the Ethernet cable to the port on the I/O plate.
Lastly, connect the AC Power Cable to the Power supply and plug the PC into your Surge Protector or UPS and set the Power Supply Switch to the on (I) position.
Why should I use a Surge Protector or UPS?
Your Gaming PC is sensitive to sudden surges or dips in power. In particular, a sudden surge in power can damage your PC or its components and result in costly repair costs that are not covered under most warranties. It is highly recommended to use either a Surge Protector or UPS to reduce the chance for damage to your PC or other components in the event of a power surge.
Additionally, a UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) can help smooth the flow of power to your PC and improve stability and reduce the chance of a power dip while also providing additional protection in the event of a total power loss (aka "blackout").
To start your Gaming PC, press the power button located at the top or front of the PC. During the first cold boot, your PC may take a few minutes to get ready before you are brought to the Account Setup.
