Kraken Core RGB (2025) |
With the Kraken Core hardware installed in the previous steps, this part will focus on the final setup in BIOS and how to control the Kraken Core.
This guide will use the N7 Z890 as an example. Your setup steps may vary from the steps provided. Please refer to your motherboard user's manual for more information.
BIOS Setup
Once the Kraken Core is installed you will need to make sure that the Pump is set to run at 100% via its selected header. To access most BIOS settings you will need to hit either F2 or Delete at the motherboard splash screen during startup as shown above.
Once in the BIOS, you will need to open the Fan Configuration settings. Depending on your motherboard this may be immediately available on the first page or may be located in another menu. For NZXT motherboards, this will be found in the PC Monitoring tab. If the motherboard is in Easy Mode, you may need to switch to Advanced Mode to access these settings.
Pump Speed
To set the Pump speed, select the header where you connected the 3-pin Pump DC Connector earlier in the guide and select Full Speed or the equivalent (i.e. 100%, Fixed, or Custom set to 100% at all times).
| Can I set the Pump Speed to Silent or another mode? |
| The DC Pump used by the Kraken Core is designed to run at a constant RPM at maximum power. We do not recommend changing the pump speed to lower settings as this can damage the pump over time and cause the cooler to fail. |
Fan Speed
To set the Fan speed, select the header where you connected the 4-pin PWM Fan Connector earlier in the guide and select your preferred mode. Unlike the DC Pump connector, you can adjust the fans to your personal preferences. Most users tend to prefer the Silent or Standard mode for most fans to reduce noise.
With both the Pump and Fan speeds adjusted, click Exit from the top bar and choose Save Changes & Exit to reboot your PC.
RGB Control
To control the lighting on the Kraken Core you will need to use the software for the header where the Kraken was installed. The software will vary depending on if you are connected directly to the 5V ARGB header on your motherboard or if you are using a dedicated controller. For this guide, the N7 B850 uses the NZXT CAM software.

* When daisy-chaining the RGB fans to the Kraken Core, the effects of the first 19 LEDs will be shared between both the fan(s) and the cap. When using an NZXT N-Series motherboard, you will need to manually configure the RGB settings for the header before you can control the lighting. For more information please see the guide below: How to Control 5V and 12V RGB Devices on an NZXT Motherboard |
If you are looking to create the sunset effect or one similar to the example cap at the top of the guide, use the Customize LED Colors switch to address each LED individually.
Select the Lighting tab on the left side, then select the panel for the header on the motherboard to set your desired effect.
For other motherboard and controller manufacturers, please refer to your motherboard/controller user's manual.
