All NZXT Kraken Elite coolers are compatible with any standard 120 or 140mm base fans depending on the Kraken model, however depending on the model of Kraken as well as the fans used you may need additional hardware to connect or power the fans.
*For Push + Pull configurations, an additional fan controller will be necessary. Breakout cables included with NZXT Kraken series coolers support a maximum of three (3) standard fans or one (1) unibody fan for Kraken Elite (2024) models.
Kraken Elite (non-RGB)
The base version of the Kraken Elite includes an NZXT 8-pin to 4-pin PWM Fan Splitter cable in the box to connect up to three (3) 4-pin PWM fans to the breakout cable. When connected via the splitter to the breakout cable, the speed of the fans will be controllable through the NZXT CAM software in the Cooling section attached to the Kraken Elite cooler.
If the fans include RGB, they will need to be connected to a compatible controller. Non-NZXT RGB fans cannot be controlled through the CAM software unless connected via 5V ARGB to an NZXT Motherboard.
Kraken Elite RGB
The Kraken Elite RGB does not include an NZXT 8-pin to 4-pin PWM Fan Splitter cable in the box and is not directly compatible with third-party fans out of the box.
The NZXT 8-pin to 4-pin PWM Fan Splitter is not available for individual purchase at this time.
What do I do if I cannot connect my fans directly to the breakout cable?
If you cannot connect your fans directly to the Kraken Elite breakout cable, you can still use them with the Kraken cooler by connecting the fans either to a compatible controller or your motherboard. Please note, when connected to a controller or directly to a motherboard the fan speed will not be detected or controlled by the CAM software and will need to be controlled through either the motherboard UEFI/BIOS or via the motherboard/controller utility unless connected through an NZXT Controller or Motherboard.
