How to package your Gaming PC - H5 Series

Have more questions? Submit a request

This article will cover how to properly package your NZXT Gaming PC built in the NZXT H5 Series of cases.  If you have received approval for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) from our Customer Support team, you are required to follow these guidelines to ensure safe delivery of your PC to our warehouse.

Failure to properly package your PC can result in damage to the PC or its internal components.  Damage due to improper packaging may result in additional repair charges or rejection of the system and voiding of your warranty.

Before starting

If you have added any additional components to your PC, such as additional storage (i.e. HDD, SSD, M.2, etc.), fans, memory (i.e. RAM), or case accessories (display figures, capture cards, etc.), please remove these items before sending in your PC.  NZXT is not responsible for any lost or damaged third party components or accessories during the RMA process.

NZXT Support - How do I package my NZXT Gaming PC?

Where can I purchase packing materials for my case?

If you no longer have the original packing materials that shipped with your case, you can purchase a new packing material kit from our store:

NZXT - Gaming PC RMA Packaging Materials (H5 Series)

This packing kit will include the following items:

  • One (1) large, double corrugated cardboard box
  • Two (2) Foam Case Blocks
  • One (1) Foam Case Brace
  • One (1) set of Cardboard GPU Wraps
  • One (1) set of Cardboard Fan Wraps
  • F One (1) set of Top Fan Fillers
    • Only necessary if your Gaming PC does not have a top-mounted liquid cooler.
  • G One (1) or Two (2) Foam GPU Brace(s)
  • H Two (2) Cardboard Box Toppers

In addition to the materials listed above, you will also need heavy-duty packing tape.  We recommend 3" wide packing tape rated for at least 60 lbs. to properly seal the package.  Do not use masking tape.

Can I source my own packaging materials?

We do not recommend sourcing your own packaging materials, as the packing kits for our cases are specifically designed to protect the components in transit and reduce the chance of damage.

Preparing the PC - Internal Packaging

For this step, you will need the following:

  • Cardboard GPU Wrap(s)
  • Cardboard Fan Wrap(s)
  • F Top Fan Fillers
    • Only necessary if your Gaming PC does not have a top-mounted liquid cooler.
  • G GPU Foam Brace(s)

To start, remove the side glass from your Gaming PC by pulling the glass away from the top of the PC using the metal tab at the top-left corner of the glass.  Once released, lift the glass up and away from the case and set it aside on a flat surface.

GPU is shown removed from the PC to illustrate details, please make sure the GPU is securely connected in the PC when shipping your system to NZXT.

Wrap the (D) Cardboard GPU Wrap around the GPU toward the right side of the card.

Place the (E) Cardboard Fan Wrap against the top fan.

My Gaming PC does not have top fans or liquid cooler.

H5-2024-Top-Fan-Filler.png

If your NZXT Gaming PC does not include an AIO Liquid Cooler or top-mounted fans, your mounting kit will include (F) Top Fan Fillers which can be secured to the top of the case.  Remove the top panel by unlocking the captive screw at the rear of the case, then slide the panel to reveal the fan mounts.  Place the assembled Fan Filler in the top of the case by using the included tabs.  Once the filler in in place, re-secure the top panel.

With the cardboard wraps in place, align the (G) GPU Foam Brace with the cardboard wraps, making sure that the shorter side is towards the bottom of the case as shown in the image above.

GPU-Brace-Height.png

If you received a replacement packing kit, you may need to remove some of the foam from the brace in order to properly fit it to your PC.  These braces will be pre-cut to allow easy removal of material from the top of the brace.

GPU-Brace-Adjust.png

If properly adjusted, the upper foam and lower foam will firmly grip the card when installed.

Once the height is adjusted, align the opening in the brace with your GPU to determine how much material needs to be removed to properly fit your GPU.  Remove material until the outer edge of the GPU brace is wide enough to accept the GPU.

H5-30.png

With the braces adjusted, insert the brace into the case in line with the GPU wrap.  If you have a larger GPU, you may have to install two (2) GPU wraps and/or foam braces.  Please make sure to include the second installed brace on the left side of the GPU as shown above.

If you are using a replacement packing kit, you may need to remove some of the foam from the outside of the brace in order to properly close the case.  To do this, remove one layer at a time and try a test fit with the side glass until the glass is able to close securely.  The foam will have a small amount of flex to allow the glass to press the brace into the graphics card.

Starting with the (B) Foam Case Blocks, identify the bottom block by the additional slats included for the bottom of the case.  Place the case in the bottom block with the slats facing the open side of the bottom of the case.

With the bottom block in place, take the (C) Foam Case Brace and slot it into the bottom Case Block as shown above.  Once the brace is in place, place the top Case Block on to your Gaming PC to secure the brace.

H5-2024-To-Box.png

Rotate the PC so that the front of the PC is facing downward as shown above, then place one (H) Cardboard Box Topper on top of the PC and lower the box onto the system with the flaps open.

Rotate the box so that the front of the PC is visible.  If you have the RMA Agreement form, please tape this to the front of your PC at this step.

  • If you are returning your PC for a repair, please do not include your Accessory Box, Power Cable, or Wifi Antennas unless requested by the Customer Service team.  These accessories can be easily lost in transit and processing and may not be replaced.  NZXT is not responsible for lost accessories, power cables, or wifi antennas.
  • If you are returning your PC for a refund, please include your Accessory Box with your Power Cable and Wifi Antennas as shown above.

Open the flaps on the cardboard box topper, then place the topper in the box with the open tabs facing down.  With the system securely in the box, close the flaps and tape the box shut using your heavy-duty packing tape.  It is recommended to double-tape the flaps lengthwise along the seam, taping an additional 3-6 inches along the side of the box from the top to ensure the box is securely closed.  Additionally, taping along the top and side edge can help further seal the box.

Lastly, make sure that your RMA Number is written somewhere on the outside of the shipping box, as this allows our team to easily identify and process your package when received at our warehouse.

Shipping your Gaming PC

If you have printed your shipping label, secure it to the side of the box using clear packing tape.  For International shipments, you may have also received additional customs documents along with your shipping label.  Please secure these documents to the outside of the box using a clear envelope or a resealable bag taped securely to the outside of the shipping box.  Clear envelopes can be provided or purchased from the shipping courier.

If you were provided with a prepaid shipping label by NZXT Support and do not have access to a printer, you can take the digital label on your phone or mobile device to the courier who should be able to scan and print the label on your behalf.

When dropping off the package with the courier, it is not recommended to use an unattended drop box for drop off.  Please make sure that the package is scanned at the time of drop off and request a receipt confirming that the package has been received by the courier.  With the package dropped off, please notify the agent handling your case by replying to your RMA email with a copy of your package's tracking number.
