What do I need to package my PC?
Every NZXT Gaming PC will ship with specialized packing materials based on the case used in order to ensure safe delivery of the system. We highly recommend holding on to these materials for the full term of your PC's warranty (2 years). The full list of materials for this guide are listed below.
- H9 Packaging Kit
- A One (1) large, double-corrugated ("double-wall") cardboard box
- B Two (2) foam case blocks
-
C One (1) or Two (2) pre-cut foam GPU braces
- The number of braces is dependent on the model of GPU shipped with your PC. Larger GPUs may include two braces
-
D One (1) or Two (2) cardboard wrap for GPU
- See GPU braces note
-
E Two (2) cardboard wraps for top and bottom-mounted fans
- The second wrap is only necessary if your system has bottom-mounted fans
- F One (1) foam block for under the top glass (Elite model only)
- Heavy-duty packing tape (not included)
- We recommend using 3" wide packing tape rated for at least 60 lbs. to properly seal the package. Please do not use masking tape.
If you are missing any of the above packing materials from the Packaging Kit, please purchase a replacement kit from the link in the support list.
Preparing your PC - Internal Packaging
For this step, we'll need the following materials:
- C Pre-cut foam GPU brace(s)
- D Cardboard wrap(s) for the GPU
- E Cardboard wrap for the top mounted fan
- F Cardboard wrap for the bottom mounted fan(s) (if applicable)
- G Foam block for under the top glass (H9 Elite only)
To start, it is recommended to place the PC on its side for easier access while packaging the PC. Take the cardboard wrap (D) for the GPU place it around the graphics card in the PC at the far right side of the graphics card as shown below. If you received a replacement packing kit, you may need to bend the wrap around the GPU as shown below.
GPU is shown removed from the PC to illustrate details, please make sure the GPU is securely connected to the PC when shipping to NZXT.
Next we will install the top and bottom fan covers using the included cardboard wraps (E) from your packing kit. Place the cardboard wraps so that the flaps are facing towards the glass as shown in the image below:
If you received a replacement packing kit, the the fan wraps may not be cut to the exact size needed for your case. Each wrap will include perforated marks to make sizing the wrap for your specific case an easy process.
With the cardboard wraps in place on the GPU and fans, the next step will be to install the included pre-cut GPU foam brace(s) (C). Align the brace with the cardboard wrap, making sure that the shorter side of the brace is towards the bottom of the case with the longer side toward the top as shown below:
If your PC shipped with a larger GPU (i.e. an RTX 4090), your kit may include a second GPU brace. Please make sure that this second brace is installed next to the original brace.
If you received a replacement packing kit, you may need to remove some of the foam from the bottom of the brace in order to properly fit it to your case. To do this, align the brace with the foam cover on the top of your case and take note of the height of the brace relative to where the bottom of your case or your bottom fans line up. If your system has bottom mounted fans, remove the appropriate amount of foam from the bottom of the brace.
Once the height of the brace is adjusted, the next step will be to adjust the brace for the thickness of your GPU. Align the brace and take note of the thickness of the card relative to the removable sections of the foam brace. Ideally, the removable section's outer edge should align with the top of and bottom of the GPU with the inner edge being smaller than the GPU to provide a snug fit when the brace is installed as shown below:
If properly adjusted, the upper foam and lower foam will firmly grip the card while installed.
Lastly we'll need to adjust the depth of the foam brace. This will be done by removing some of the foam from the outside of the brace so that the foam cleanly touches the glass with minimal pressure.
Once the brace is installed, close the glass on the side of the system and lock it using the security screw located at the rear of the case before moving onto the next step: Packing your system.
Important note for H9 Elite owners!
The H9 Elite case includes a special acrylic top bracket for radiator mounting to achieve the floating radiator appearance as well as to better show off your components from all angles. This bracket however can be severely damaged in transit if not properly braced. Your packing kit should include an additional foam block (F) that is placed under the top glass prevent this type of damage.
| Checkpoint - Take Pictures |
| Before packaging your PC, please take pictures of the PC from all angles to show how the system is packaged and send them as a reply to your Technical Support ticket. This allows our team to verify the system is properly packaged and protects you in the event of shipping accidents. |
Packing your Gaming PC
With your system prepared and the internal packaging properly in place, we'll need to make sure the PC is properly packaged. For this step, we will need the following materials:
- A One (1) large, double corrugated ("double-wall") cardboard box
- B Two (2) foam case blocks
- Heavy-duty packing tape
- Your prepared NZXT Gaming PC
- Your NZXT RMA Agreement
- A shipping label
Additionally, if your PC is being returned for a refund, please include the accessory box and any accessories included with your PC as well. For systems being sent in for repair, please do not send the accessory box or any accessories with your PC. These accessories can be easily lost or misplaced during the repair process. NZXT is not responsible for any lost or damaged accessories or third party components sent with the system.
If you have printed your NZXT RMA Agreement, please tape this to the tempered glass side panel. Place the included foam case blocks (B) from your packing materials on the top and bottom of your PC as shown in the image below.
If you are returning your PC for a refund, place the foam straps included with the accessory box around the box and place it at the front of the case. For systems with the NZXT H9 Elite case, you may also have an additional box with the unused radiator mount. This should be placed against the metal side panel.
Place the system in the box by lowering the box over the PC so that the top of the PC is towards the bottom of the sealed box as shown in the image below, then flip the box over:
With the system securely in the box, close the flaps and tape the box shut using your heavy-duty packing tape. It is recommended to double-tape the flaps lengthwise along the seam, taping an additional 3-6 inches along the side of the box from the top to ensure that the box is securely closed. Additionally, taping along the top and side edge can help further seal the box.
Lastly, make sure that your RMA Number is written somewhere on the outside of the shipping box, as this allows our team to easily identify and process your package when received at our warehouse.
