The optimal place to install your radiator will vary depending on your overall build, however there are a few factors that can help make this choice easier:
- If your case supports top mounting compatible with your cooler's radiator, we highly recommend going with a top mount. When using a top mount, the fans should be installed to push air through the radiator as an exhaust.
- If your case does not support top-mounting compatible with your cooler's radiator, a side mount is a good alternative.
- It is not recommended to bottom-mount a Kraken cooler's radiator. See below for more details.
The most important rule when choosing a place to mount your radiator is that the highest point in the radiator should always be above the Pump Cap. This ensures that no air is able to reach the pump, as air in the pump can result in degraded performance or a shortened pump lifespan.
When side mounting, should the tubes be at the top or bottom of the radiator?
This is highly debated question amongst builders, with the answer being far more nuanced but coming down to personal preference. Tubes at the bottom can result in less noise (specifically a trickling noise from the radiator), however tubes at the bottom is easier to install in many cases.
