Due to the AMD HD 79xx Series reference design using a sunken die configuration, these CPUs are not capable of making direct contact when paired with the Kraken G10 and an Asetek-based cooler. For most cards, we recommend using a copper shim to help bridge the gap between the cold plate and GPU die for improved performance.
Some non-reference models may not require a shim, however due to wide variances in non-reference designs we cannot confirm exact compatibility. Compatibility can be confirmed by installing the G10 and cooler, then removing the cooler to check the spread of thermal compound between the plate and die.
