While installing a game or other program, you may come across the error "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755."
This particular error is a general code that can mean either a package within the installer does not have the necessary permissions to read or write a file, or a key file may be missing.
A common cause for this issue is a missing folder on your PC, in particular the C:\Windows\Installer directory. During the install process, this file should be created by the installer itself but may be blocked due to lacking administrator permissions or other issues. Because .msi files are Windows Installer Packages, these do not have the Run as Administrator option that is found on .exe based installers that would normally resolve this. Instead, we'll need to manually create the folder.
To get to this folder, open your File Explorer and select This PC to bring up the drives on your system.
Double-click the Local Disk (C:) with the blue Windows logo on the drive (if you have modified your System drive to use a different letter, be sure to open the drive that shows the Windows logo.
In the Local Disk (C:) folder, double-click the Windows folder and then right-click an empty area and choose New > Folder. Once the folder is created, name the folder Installer. You may be prompted by the Windows User Access Control (UAC) to provide administrator permission during this process. Please be sure to accept this when prompted.
One the Installer folder is created, try running the installer again to see if the issue continues.
If the issue repeats, please reach out to the source of the installer file or reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
