Troubleshooting problems with front I/O ports on the H710

Unfortunately in some instances, a defect can sometimes manifest that can result in problems with your I/O ports. Here we will detail various issues that you may encounter and how to verify if the cause of the issue.

USB Overcurrent Errors

Solved] USB device over current status detected!! - Driver Easy

If you are ever greeted by a USB Device Over Current error like shown above, this is associated with either a defective USB connection on your motherboard or a defective USB device connected to your system. To verify the cause of the issue, firstly disconnect all external USB devices from the system and attempt to start up the system. If the error persists, then disconnect the internal USB connection (one at a time) from the front I/O to the motherboard. For the H710, this would be a USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.1 Gen 2 connection, as shown below. 


If after removing these cables your issue is resolved this would indicate your front I/O is defective. If this did not resolve the issue, this would indicate a defect in your motherboard, we recommend you contact the manufacturer of your motherboard for assistance. If you have confirmed a defect with our front I/O, please contact our customer service team for assistance.

USB Connectivity Problems

If when connecting a USB device to the front I/O the device does not get recognized or read by Windows, this can indicate a problem with the USB connection. Firstly, verify if the device works on the USB ports that are apart of the motherboard on the back. If this doesn't work still, make sure your motherboard drivers are up to date. If problems persist, contact the motherboard manufacturer.


If your USB device works on the rear of your PC, make sure to reseat/reconnect the USB 3.1 Gen 1/USB 3.1 Gen 2 connections on your motherboard. If after reconnecting the issue is unresolved then please contact our customer service team for assistance.

Audio Problems

The H710 uses a newer 4 pole headphone jack, meaning headsets with a single headphone jack that supports microphone and audio can connect directly to the case without the need for an adapter (pictured below).


If you are having problems with your audio, firstly, try connecting a different audio device to the headphone jack. If it is a split audio connector device, use the included merging cable. If when switching audio devices you get sound and microphone input, this would indicate a problem with your headset. If your device does not work attempt to use the rear audio ports on the back of your PC.


If the audio still doesn't work when connected to the rear of your system this indicates a problem with the motherboard and drivers. Make sure to update all available drivers and if unresolved contact your motherboard manufacturer. If you get audio and mic input on the back connectors, that would indicate a problem with the front I/O. Make sure that the HD_AUDIO connector is hooked up properly to the motherboard, if it is, then please contact our customer service team. 

Power Button Problems

If your PC is not powering on, this may be a problem with the power button or how it's connected to the motherboard. Firstly, keep in mind, if you have an AMD motherboard you need to use the included F_PANEL breakout cable, as they do not use the same conventional layout the F_PANEL connector supports.


If you are using the appropriate connector for your motherboard, we recommend testing that the motherboard will power on its own. To do this, either use an onboard power button if your motherboard supports one, or jump your PW_SWITCH pins on the motherboard. Jumping the pins is as easy as bridging them with a screwdriver. If your PC powers on, that would indicate the power switch is defective. Please contact our customer service team for assistance with a replacement.
